Privacy Policy for Bystander Video Blur

Last updated: January 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Bystander Video Blur ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our iOS application (the "Service").

1. Information Collection and Use

We prioritize your privacy. The core functionality of Bystander Video Blur (video analysis and face blurring) works entirely locally on your device. We do not upload your videos or photos to any server.

1.1. Photo Library Access

To perform its core function, the Service requires access to your device's Photo Library.

  • Access Purpose: To allow you to select videos for processing and to save the final processed videos back to your library.
  • Data Handling: All video processing is performed locally on your device. No video or image content is transmitted to us or any third-party servers.

1.2. Face Data

The Service uses advanced AI technology (SCRFD model) to detect faces within your videos.

  • Data Handling: Face detection occurs in real-time on your device's processor.
  • Storage: We do not store, save, or transmit any facial data. The detection results are stored temporarily in your device's memory only for the duration of the editing session to apply the mosaic effect and are discarded immediately after.

1.3. Error Reporting

To improve the stability of the Service, we include an error reporting feature.

  • Consent: Error logs are sent to our server only if you explicitly grant permission via a dialog box when an error occurs.
  • Data Collected: If you consent, the following technical information may be collected: App Version, Device Type, OS Version, Codec Info, Color Space Info, Video Resolution, Mosaic Type, Estimated Processing Time, and Error Messages/Locations.
  • Privacy: The error logs never contain video content, audio content, or personal images.

1.4. Advertising (AdMob)

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements within the Service. Google AdMob may collect and use personal data, including:

  • Identifiers: Device ID, Advertising ID (IDFA).
  • Usage Data: Ad interactions, crash logs, and diagnostics.
  • Tracking: With your permission (via the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS 14+), AdMob may use your identifier for advertising purposes to deliver personalized ads.

For more information on how Google manages data, please visit Google's Privacy & Terms and Google's Partner Privacy Policy.

2. Third-Party Service Providers

We may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:

  • To facilitate our Service;
